What You Need to Know About Bed Bugs & Thier Eggs

Even a single mated bed bug in your home can trigger a large infestation by laying eggs even if no male is present. As long as she has a source of blood to feed on, she can lay eggs multiple times. On average, a female can lay 113 eggs in one year. Now image more than one female is present and you will see how infestations happen!

Here are a few facts about bed bug eggs:

A female will lay 2-7 eggs ten days after feeding. If she feeds multiple times a day, that could be 20 eggs in one day!
When bed bug eggs hatch, it is a fairly even split between male and female nymphs.
Bed bugs can lay single eggs or groups of eggs and will do so anywhere in the room.
The hatch rate for bed bug eggs is around 97% at room temperature! The ideal temperature is 70-90° F
The population of bed bugs in your home can double every 16 days if the temperature is maintained and a host is present for blood.
