Bedbugs reproduce using a process called 'traumatic insemination'. The male forcibly breaks through the female's abdomen to inseminate the wound. The females can lay around 200 eggs in their lifetime which is around 12 months. When those eggs hatch, they go through five juvenile 'nymph' phases molting between each one. Finally they become an adult and the cycle begins again! At Otis Pest Control we use thermal heat treatment to get rid of bedbugs. The treatment is effective at killing all 7 life stages from egg to adult.
